Visas and vaccinations

EU visitors need only their passport to enter Malta and are entitled to stay for up to three months.  Visitors from outside EU/EEA countries and Switzerland must hold return or onward tickets and show that they have sufficient funds to cover their period of stay in Malta.

In 2007 Malta joined the Schengen system which allows passport-free movement between a number of European countries including: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.  A Schengen visa is needed for visitors travelling to and from Schengen countries.

For a list of other nationals requiring a visa to enter Malta (and where to apply for one), refer to the Maltese Embassy website.  Your broker or hospital provider should be able to advise you further.

No vaccinations are needed for European, US, Canadian or Australian visitors.  Check the Maltese Embassy website for any citizens requiring vaccinations.
